Review
I started using the Sea to Summit 4L Nano dry bag for my first hike of the South Downs Way and it was a great little dry bag to put my electronics in should the weather take a turn, so why the 4L Nano?
Why the 4L Nano?
This little dry bag comes with taped seams and uses an ultralight Ultra-Sil® Nano 15D nylon which on the surface looks incredibly thin and flimsy but should hold up. So due to its lightweight and waterproofing features it seemed like a good choice.
How did it do?
Over the first few hundred miles it was absolutely fine, however not many miles after that the seam taping has started to come loose and the coating has started to degrade significantly. Putting softer, lighter items inside would help with the degradation of the coating, so electronics may not be the best choice of contents for this little dry bag. I’d suggest using it for more clothing or food items instead.
Value for money
£12 this isn’t a bad price for a coated Silnylon dry bag at this weight, but for electronics or anything you want to put inside which will give the bag a beating, you’d be better off going for a DCF pouch instead which would last a lot longer and be lighter still. Expect to be switching out this dry bag pretty early if you don’t take care of it.
